Gone in Sixty Seconds

I just watched the 1974 version of this movie. What a classic. H.B. Hallicki, the director, producer and stunt driver, seems to have spent most of the budget on the last 40 mins, which is just one long car chase. This first part of the film is sooo cheap, but good because of it. There are soo many good 70s outfits as well. The whole film is worth watching if only to see a character called Billy getting stoned with his mates in lowered Cadillac or some similar large American car.

The remake with Nick Cage sucks. Not because of Nick Cage or anything, but just because it totally misses the point of the original. The remake is all soft and stupid with the main bloke being a reformed criminal etc.. Forced into stealing cars to save his brother. In the first movie he is an out and out crook who loves stealing cars and whos brother (well, I don’t think it was his brother as such but more a similar character) he wishes was dead anyway.

New Site

I cant decide on what I should do; Go for a new sitedesign or not. I have a design in wings. But I dunno. This one works and people get used to stuff. Maybe I will put two designs up then poeple can choose. The new one is very different.

Hapkido

Since I have had a house guest (Carol Hustler) the whole four times a week thing has gone out of the window. I went once last week, and only twice on the previous two weeks. This is bad.

The weight loss program has halted as well. I am still on 90kilos.

So all in all its been a very bad few weeks. Too much booze, to much food and not enough exercise. I need to strengthen my resolve and get back on track. It is too easy to be distracted by the sweet temptation that is Beer and BBQ.

...mmm.... BBQed shrimp....Oh sweet baby....suculent juicy pork ribs....

You see!! I shall just have to go twice today. A double session is needed. That should kick start the action. Too much easy living, I am getting soft.

reverse posts

Should I reverse the post order?
Then the first post of the day would be at the top. This may make more sense.

and one more thing...

I meant to mention some things in my defence with regards to this site:

1. I cant spell and have very bad grammar. So can take ages to proof a post. And then I still notice mistakes.

2. Editing your own stuff isn't easy. I think everything I have to say is interesting. Which I suppose is the point of a blog. But its actually all very contrived and designed to portray a certain... I don’t know what, but portray something it is supposed to do. And this is kinda hard. I do have a tendency to waffle on.

Erm.. That’s about it really.

I'll keep it a bit shorter and too the point from now on I think.

BTW Virgin are now playing "Help" by the Beatles. Which is much better.
I wholly expect them to play the Lighthouse family next however.

Oh no, even worse its some sort of England football song mix. Aagghhhhh!!!!!
Oh my god it is sooo bad its almost funny.

Time to change channel.

Virgin Rubbish I am listening to Virgin Radio on the internet at the moment. And true to form all the DJ can do is talk about tonights East Enders valentines special and then play some Robbie Williams.

The highlight of the news was the essential info that 771 SMS will be sent every second in the UK today. I assume that is because of stupid Valentines Day SMS.

And even better they now tell me you can enter a competition in which you have to guess how many valentines cards Jordan gets. sheesh...

I actually wanted to listen to XFM, some one told me the breakfast show was good, but I cant. I think it requires Real Player and there is not Real Player for OSX yet. So I was testing others and Virgin works because it uses MS Windows Media Player, which is available for OSX.

how boring is this?

I haven't posted for a while. But I have been prompted to post because I have had some feedback from my small but loyal readership.

Long term reader and supporter of howboring.com Tom Gill of Worthing says "Your website is occasionally hilarious, frequently tedious. Where are the recent entries?"

Thanks for the feedback Tom. Short and to the point. :-)

Another Staunch follower and editors muse Lachlan Scott of NZ had this to say:

"Reasons why Alex 'the King' Counsell is a True Genius; Number One in a
series of oh, so very many:

"You can lie to the bank, oh sure that's easy, but you cannot lie to
yourself and you cannot lie to Blockbuster."

So good, I shall have to quote you.

Todays Slowburner:

"Beef Master Deluxe BBQ (no really, thats what its called)"

But felt I should have got a name check against

"Cannon G1 camera (used)."

:-(

When can I pound your perpetually clenched butt?

(Not in the Biblical sense, obviously but the Starcraft sense)"

Many thanks Lach, the feed back was again well received. And there is the shout you wanted for the camera. Which btw is a truly awesome piece of kit.

I contemplated leaving out the StarCraft comment. But thought better of it. My Nan reads my site after all....

This flurry of reader response has led me to consider a ratings system for entries. Perhaps a star based system. Five stars would be so boring you would rather hack off your right hand and shove the bleeding stump into your mouth in the hope that you will drown in your own blood, and one star would be really entertaining. The other option is a comments system. This would allow you the reader to publicly comment on all the posts. This I feel may be dangerous and open to a rather large amount of abuse by certain people. You know who you are. :-)

Comments in the mean time should be sent to the usual address.
